Introduction to Feng Shui at home

How to create good feng shui in your basement

When you are in the basement, you are literally underground. Any part of our home that is completely or partially below standard (such as basements and basements) is a bit of a challenge for Feng Shui.

In terms of energy, because you are underground and mostly surrounded by the earth, you may tend to get stuck. The ground element is out of balance causing stagnation and a basement has a lot of soil. You may even always feel stuck. But hopefully here are some ways to create good feng shui in the basement and raise your chi so you can get stuck.

Avoid living spaces in the basement

According to Feng Shui , the best use of the basement is for storage. It is also a great place for a guest bedroom and laundry . Avoid placing rooms in the basement where you spend a lot of time, such as bedrooms, as it is not an ideal place to live. There is a reason why many cultures bury their dead in the ground.

Basements generally have low ceilings. It creates a repressive feeling and can exacerbate depression and illness. Basements are often damp, which is not only unhealthy (think mold and mildew), but also cold in terms of energy and has little vibration. There is little natural light that affects our mood and physical health. In general, basements are the main drainage of qi, which is the energy of life force.

While a basement bedroom is not desirable, sometimes there is no choice and you end up with a living space in the basement. If so, use these tips to improve Feng Shui.

Ways to improve feng shui

Crowd up storage space

Start with storage because most people use their basements for this purpose. In fact, the best way for Feng Shui to use the basement is storage.

The first thing you need to do is get organized . Leave what you no longer need. It may be a daunting task, but ask for help and move slowly. Consider that in terms of energy, all of this “material” is buried and is literally part of your foundation or home, which is famous for your life. The process of disorder and abandonment is critical to improving your home feng shui.

Look at what you keep in the basement. Do the things you store here make you happy or do you feel overwhelmed? Do these things stop you?

Raise with color

Enhance your aura with color. Bright colors, especially white, are reflective and visually enhance the space. White ceiling color is also recommended.

Bring pictures of nature

Try pictures of nature such as rainbows, tall trees, or even forest scenes. There are beautiful large-scale murals that can be used as wallpaper. Even smaller prints on the wall can give you more life.

Repair water or plumbing problems

Since basements are usually wet, they should be monitored for water. It is important to reduce any problems as soon as possible. Adding a dehumidifier will also help if needed.

Empty spaces

The energy in the basement needs more attention to cleaning than the more active areas of the house. Regular staining is recommended to refresh the space.

Use Uplighting

Electric lights summon the element of fire. The use of lighting, such as burners or sconces, which are facing upwards, can help to raise and expand the energy of the basement.

Stir Qi

Feng shui is all about creating a good qi flow. You can do this in your basement by literally moving things around in the basement at least once each season. This can be as simple as shifting a few boxes around every few months. Put it on your calendar so you don’t forget.

Add Some Wood Elements

The wood element is connected to life energy. It’s uplifting, like the branches of a tree growing up towards the sun. The roots of trees and plants are also nourished by the earth. So, having a wood element in the basement (within the earth) will bring life and positive vibes to your home.

A simple way to bring in a wood element is with colors such as green and teal in furniture, paint, rugs, or any other accessories.

You can also add living green houseplants. Plants are a great addition to any basement to improve the energy and indoor air quality. If natural light is limited, you can use fake plants. Just make sure that they are of high quality and look realistic.
